Move your school from Excel registers
Upload your registers as they are: any column order, English or Hindi headings, one sheet per class or all in one. See every student and class before anything is saved.
Get your registers ready to upload
There's nothing to tidy. These are the only things worth knowing before you upload.
Open your register in Excel. In Google Sheets, use File, then Download, then Microsoft Excel (.xlsx).
Keep one student per row. Column order doesn't matter, and headings can be in English or Hindi.
If each class is on its own sheet or in its own file, upload them all and they become one list. Keep the class in a column, or in a heading above the rows such as Class : VII Section : A.
No register at all? Download our template from the Files step, fill in one student per row, and upload it.
Four screens, and nothing is saved until the last one
Open Move Your Data on your dashboard. Every answer is kept as you give it, so you can stop and carry on tomorrow.
Every sheet and file you have. Each one says what was found in it.
Which columns are which, odd class names, two children with one number. Most important first.
Class strength section by section, your total against the one you know, and any student in full.
Your register, classes and sections are filled in, and you can undo the whole move for 30 days.
Add the UDISE+ download alongside
Your register brings admission numbers, dates of birth and phone numbers. The UDISE+ download adds each child's PEN, category and the details the government holds. The same child in both files becomes one student.
About moving from Excel
Our register has different columns from yours. Is that a problem?
We keep a sheet per class. Do we combine them first?
Is anything saved before we've checked it?
