How notifications work

Tuition.in sends notifications through two channels:

  • In-platform notifications — appear in the bell icon () in the top navigation bar. Shown when you're logged in; unread count is badged on the icon.
  • Email notifications — sent to the email address registered on your account. Important transactional events (payment receipts, class reminders) are always emailed, regardless of your in-platform preferences.
Check your spam folder
Tuition.in emails are sent from [email protected]. Add this address to your contacts or mark it as "not spam" to ensure class reminders and enrollment confirmations don't get filtered.

Enrollment notifications

Student: enrollment confirmed
  • Trigger: Student successfully enrolls in a batch (free or paid).
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Course name, batch name, schedule of all upcoming classes, join link for the first class.
Tutor / Institution: new enrollment
  • Trigger: A student enrolls in any batch you manage.
  • Channels: In-platform notification. (Email digest for multiple enrollments in a day — one summary email, not one per student.)
  • Content: Student name, batch name, enrollment date, and link to batch management page.

Class reminders

Students: upcoming class reminder
  • Trigger: 30 minutes before a scheduled class starts.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Class name, batch, teacher name, and a direct "Join class" button/link.
Tutors / Institutions: class starting soon
  • Trigger: 15 minutes before a class you're scheduled to host.
  • Channels: In-platform notification.
  • Content: Class name, enrolled student count, and a "Start class" button.
Students: class recording ready
  • Trigger: Recording is processed and available, typically 10–15 minutes after the class ends.
  • Channels: In-platform notification.
  • Content: Class name, date, link to recording on your dashboard.
Missed class? You're auto-notified when the recording is ready
Students who did not join a live session still receive the "recording ready" notification so they can catch up without needing to check manually.

Assignment notifications

Students: new assignment posted
  • Trigger: Instructor posts a new assignment to a batch you're enrolled in.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Assignment title, course/batch name, deadline, link to submission form.
Students: assignment deadline reminder
  • Trigger: 2 hours before assignment deadline, if you haven't submitted yet.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Assignment title, deadline time, direct link to submit.
Tutors / Institutions: new submission received
  • Trigger: A student submits an assignment.
  • Channels: In-platform notification (batched — up to once per hour if multiple students submit around the same time).
  • Content: Student name, assignment title, batch, link to submissions page.

Grading notifications

Students: assignment graded
  • Trigger: Instructor saves a grade on your submission.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Assignment title, your score (e.g., 17 / 20), and a link to view your grade and any comments.

Review notifications

Tutors / Institutions: new review received
  • Trigger: A student submits a review on your profile.
  • Channels: In-platform notification.
  • Content: Star rating, student name, and a snippet of the comment. Link to your reviews dashboard.

Refund notifications

Tutors / Institutions: refund requested
  • Trigger: A student submits a refund request for a batch.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Student name, batch name, refund reason, and link to course management to approve or decline. Response required within 48 hours.
Students: refund approved or declined
  • Trigger: Instructor or institution approves or declines your refund request.
  • Channels: Email + in-platform notification.
  • Content: Decision (approved / declined), reason (if declined), and expected timeline if approved (5–7 business days for Razorpay to process).

System & account notifications

  • Profile verification approved: In-platform + email. Sent when our team verifies your tutor or institution profile.
  • Password change: Email only. Security notification whenever your password is changed (by you or via reset flow).
  • New login from unrecognised device: Email only. If a login is detected from a new browser or location, a security alert is sent. If you didn't initiate this login, use "Change password" immediately.
  • Profile update submitted for re-review: In-platform notification when institution name changes require manual re-verification.

Managing your preferences

You can adjust which non-critical notification categories you receive from the Account settings page.

Available toggles:

  • Email: new enrollment — toggle off if you check the dashboard regularly and don't need an email per enrollment.
  • Email: new submission received — toggle off if you prefer to check submissions on a schedule rather than per-event.
  • Email: new review received — toggle off if you prefer to check reviews manually.
  • In-platform: marketing & tips — toggle off to hide platform usage tips and Tuition.in feature announcements.
Transactional notifications cannot be disabled
Class reminders, enrollment confirmations, payment receipts, and refund notifications are transactional — they cannot be turned off. These protect students and instructors in cases of payment disputes and missed classes.

FAQ

I'm not receiving any emails — what should I check?

1. Check your spam/junk folder and search for "tuition.in". 2. Add [email protected] to your contacts. 3. Verify your registered email address is correct in Account Settings. 4. Check that your email inbox isn't full. If none of these resolve it, email [email protected].

I'm getting too many notifications — how do I reduce them?

Go to Account settings → Notifications and toggle off the non-transactional categories you don't need. You can also unsubscribe from the footer link in any non-transactional email.

Why did I get a class reminder but the class was cancelled?

Class reminders are sent 30 minutes in advance. If a class is cancelled after the reminder has already been sent, you may receive both a reminder and a cancellation notice within minutes of each other. The cancellation is always the more recent and accurate one.

Can I get WhatsApp notifications instead of email?

WhatsApp notifications are on the roadmap. Currently, all notifications are sent via email and in-platform. For time-sensitive alerts (like class starting in 15 minutes), the in-platform bell badge is the most reliable — keep the Tuition.in tab open or bookmark your dashboard.
