The daily attendance register

The class register for every section, every school day, for every child on your rolls. Gate punches fill it in; absences reach families in the app, by WhatsApp or SMS, or on a call list.

Where to find it
Daily Attendance in the sidebar, under Campus. The tabs are Register, Monthly register and Below 75%.

Overview

This is the school's daily register: one mark per student per school day, taken by section. It covers every student placed in a section under Classes & Sections, whether or not they have a tuition.in account.

It is different from class attendance, which is marked per batch class for students with accounts. A school takes the daily register; a coaching centre usually marks each class.

Taking the register

  1. The Register tab opens on today. Use the arrows or the date to go to another day (never a day that hasn't come, and only within the academic year).
  2. Each section shows how many are marked and absent, and whether it is Done, Part marked or Not taken. At the top: how many sections are marked, the share in, and the number absent.
  3. Tap a section. Its students are listed by roll number, each with their attendance so far this year (in red below 75%).
  4. Mark the exceptions, press Mark the rest present, then Save register.

Opening a section again shows the marks already made; change any and press Save changes. On a Sunday or one of the school's holidays you're reminded the school is usually closed, so mark only the sections that met.

The four marks

  • P: present.
  • Lt: late. Counts as in.
  • A: absent.
  • Lv: leave. A day not attended, but shown separately from absences.

A student's attendance is the days present or late, out of the days marked. Days with no mark at all for the section are not working days, so a holiday never counts against anyone.

Telling families

When you save, every student newly marked absent is told in the app, and so is each parent linked to them: Aarav was marked absent from Class 6 B on 2 Oct 2026. Correcting a mark and saving again doesn't send the message twice.

A child with no account, or no parent linked to it, can't be reached in the app:

  • If the school has switched on WhatsApp or SMS for families not in the app (on the Biometric page, under Day rules), the guardian's phone on the register gets the message instead, within the school's monthly limit.
  • Anyone still not reached comes back on a call list after you save, with the guardian's name and a tap-to-call number.

From the gate machine

If you have a gate machine, each student's punch marks them present, or late after your start time plus grace, as it arrives. Those marks show from the gate. The machine never marks anyone absent and never changes a mark a teacher made, unless the school has set an absence cut-off.

  • Mark from the gate machine re-runs this for the day shown: for a past day, or after importing a punch file.
  • If a gate machine has gone silent, the Register tab warns you, because students who came in may show as unmarked.

The monthly register

The Monthly register tab shows one section for one month as the familiar grid: a column per day, a letter per student, and each student's days in, days counted and percentage. Students who left are marked. CSV downloads the grid for your records or an inspection.

Students below 75%

The Below 75% tab lists everyone under the line this academic year, lowest first, with days attended, absences, leave and the guardian's number to call. Switch the line to 80, 85 or 90%. A student is counted once they have had 10 school days marked, so a new joiner isn't flagged on day two.

Where the numbers go

  • Students see their own attendance this year, and their last absence, on their Campus page; linked parents see it on the Parent Dashboard.
  • Report cards print days attended out of working days.
  • The UDISE+ year-end sheet takes days attended from here.
  • The Group Dashboard compares schools by it.

Questions

Who can take the register? You, and team members with the Attendance part set to Change, usually class teachers or the office. See Team access.

A student is missing from the section. They aren't placed in it for this year. Add them under Classes & Sections and they appear.

Can a parent apply for leave? Yes, from the Parent Dashboard. Once the class teacher approves it, each school day is marked Lv here by itself, including a day already marked absent. See Leave and holidays. For a child leaving early on a school day, use an early-leave pass.
