Creative Writing & Storytelling for ages 8–14

Most children start stories and never finish them. This workshop is built to finish one. Your child creates a character from the kit's story dice and cards, plans a plot with a real turning point, writes a first draft, then learns to edit it, and illustrates a final version.

How 4 sessions get there

Each session is 60 minutes, live, and builds on the last. Your child is doing something for most of it.

A character who wants somethingSession 1

Roll the story dice, build a character with a wish and a fear, and write the opening paragraph.

A plot that turnsSession 2

Beginning, problem, turning point, ending. Plan the story on one page before writing.

The first draftSession 3

Write the whole story. Learn 'show, don't tell' using examples from the children's own drafts.

Edit and illustrateSession 4 · the finish

Cut, sharpen and fix. Then illustrate the final copy in the kit's notebook and read a part aloud.

Questions parents ask

About Creative Writing & Storytelling

My child writes very little at school. Will this help?
Often, yes. The dice and cards solve the 'blank page' problem, and short sessions with a finished story at the end are more motivating than long assignments.
Can the story be in Hindi?
The sessions are taught in English, but a child may write their story in Hindi and the instructor will still help with plot and characters.
Who runs this workshop?
guru.cool runs it live online, with a coach and a batch of children of a similar age. Tuition.in lists the workshop and passes your seat request to guru.cool.
What happens after I reserve a seat?
guru.cool calls or messages you to confirm a batch time and the fee, and the address the kit should go to. Nothing is charged when you reserve.
When does the kit arrive, and can we keep it?
The Story Maker Kit ships to your door before session 1, and everything in it is your child's to keep.
