AI Explorers for ages 9–14
Children already use AI, usually without knowing what it is doing. In three sessions they train a model to recognise objects from their own webcam, find out why a chatbot can sound certain and still be wrong, and write their own rules for using AI with homework. The aim is curiosity and judgement, not fear and not hype.
An image classifier they trained themselves, and their own written rules for using AI honestly
How 3 sessions get there
Each session is 60 minutes, live, and builds on the last. Your child is doing something for most of it.
Train an image classifier in the browser with Teachable Machine to tell three objects apart, then try to fool it. Children discover that a model only knows what it was shown.
Play the next-word game by hand, then see the same idea at scale. Catch a chatbot inventing a fact, and learn three ways to check what it says.
Look at how image generators work and where bias comes from in training data. Each child ends by writing five rules for using AI with schoolwork.
