How each Class 10 paper is built
39 compulsory questions in three discipline sections: Biology 30 marks (nine 1-mark, three 2-mark, two 3-mark, one 4-mark case-based and one 5-mark question), Chemistry 25 marks (eight 1-mark, one 2-mark, two 3-mark, one 4-mark and one 5-mark) and Physics 25 marks (three 1-mark, two 2-mark, three 3-mark, one 4-mark and one 5-mark).
38 compulsory questions (Mathematics Standard): Section A 18 MCQs and 2 assertion–reason items of 1 mark; Section B 5 very-short-answer questions of 2 marks; Section C 6 short-answer questions of 3 marks; Section D 4 long-answer questions of 5 marks; Section E 3 case-study questions of 4 marks with sub-parts of 1, 1 and 2. Calculators are not allowed; every step of working is marked.
