CBSE Class 10 Board 2026 — Complete All-Subjects Course

The CBSE Class 10 board examination is the first public examination most Indian students sit, and its result decides stream allocation for Class 11 — which in turn shapes every entrance exam that follows. It is not a competitive exam, and treating it like one is a mistake: there is no rank, no cutoff and no negative marking, only a syllabus that is fully published in advance. Each core subject is assessed out of 100: an 80-mark written theory paper of three hours, plus 20 marks of internal assessment made up of periodic tests, portfolio, subject enrichment activities and practical or project work. This course covers the four core subjects — Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English. What has genuinely changed in recent years is the character of the paper. A substantial share of the 80 marks now comes from competency-based questions — case studies, assertion-reason pairs and application problems — rather than from reproducing textbook answers. Students who prepare by memorising solved examples find the paper unfamiliar even though the syllabus is exactly what they studied. The other 20 marks deserve more attention than they get. Internal assessment is a fifth of every subject's final score and is largely within your control across the year, yet it is routinely treated as an administrative formality. Twenty marks secured steadily is worth more than most students ever gain from a final month of revision. Eligibility & who can join: • Open to students enrolled in Class 10 at a school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. • Mathematics is offered at two levels — Standard and Basic. How the course is structured: Each subject is taught chapter by chapter against CBSE's own published unit weightage, so effort tracks the marks the board actually allots rather than the length of the chapter. Competency-based questions — case studies, assertion-reason and application items — are practised from the first chapter rather than saved for a final revision phase, because they are where the paper has moved and where prepared students separate from memorising ones. Every chapter's teaching ends with NCERT back-exercise consolidation, since board papers stay close to NCERT. Mathematics is taught to Standard level throughout, which fully covers Basic.
