Overview
Open Progress Reports in the sidebar and start a class report. One document holds the whole class: the format, subjects and columns are decided once, and each student gets their own page. The list on the left shows, for every student, whether their report is ready, or still missing a mark or a remark.
Formats
- CBSE Classes VI to VIII: two terms of 100: periodic test 10, notebook 5, subject enrichment 5, term exam 80, graded A1 to E; co-scholastic areas and discipline on A to C.
- CBSE Classes IX and X: 80 in the annual exam and 20 internal assessment.
- State board CCE: FA1 to FA4, SA1 and SA2, on the state's A1 to E scale. Rename the columns to your state's.
- School marks report: unit tests and term exams in marks and percentage, the way most ICSE and state schools report.
- Coaching progress report: every test in the period with the class average, highest and rank, a chart against the class average, ratings and the faculty's words.
- Monthly tuition report: what was covered, how the tests went, what is planned next.
- Primary descriptive report: no marks. Each subject's skills on a four-step scale, with the teacher's words.
Each format is marked as a board pattern or a house format. A board pattern follows the board's published scheme; your school's own card may differ, and every column, subject and heading can be changed.
Bringing the class in
There are three ways, and you can mix them:
- From a batch. Pick the batch and the dates. Every active student comes in with each test in those dates (marks, the class average, the highest and their rank) and their attendance. Pull again after a mark is corrected: the same students are updated, and the studio tells you how many reports' numbers changed. Your remarks and ratings are never overwritten.
- Paste from a spreadsheet (below).
- Add students one by one and type on the report itself.
Pasting from Excel
Select the rows in Excel or Google Sheets, including the heading row, copy, and paste. The studio reads each heading and says what it thinks the column is: "English PT1", "Maths T2 Yearly", "Working days", "Father's Name". You check the matches and correct any before anything is written. Rows are matched to students already in the report by roll number, then by name, so pasting a second sheet fills in the same reports.
Not sure which columns to use? Copy a blank sheet with the right columns, paste it into Excel, fill it in and paste it back. Type AB (or just a) for an absent student.
Writing each report
Everything on the report is written on the report: marks in the table, ratings by clicking the dot, remarks in their box. Press Enter in a marks box to go down the column, as in a spreadsheet. The arrows beside the student's name move to the next report. A remark left blank prints as ruled lines, so it can be written by hand.
How totals and averages work
- A term total prints only when every column of the term is filled. Half a total is a wrong number printed with confidence, so the box stays blank and the class list says which mark is missing.
- In a marks table, AB scores nothing and the total is still printed, with a note under the table. That is how schools total a missed exam.
- In a coaching report, a missed test is left out of the average rather than counted as zero, the same rule as Test Results.
- Grades are worked out from the percentage, rounded half up as boards round. A mark above the column's maximum stops the report being marked ready.
Changing the layout
Layout lists the sections top to bottom: switch each on or off, rename it, move it, or add one. Choose the student details printed, the test columns shown, and whose signatures go at the foot. A signature image can be printed above any line; see letterhead, logo and signature. Marksholds the subjects, terms and columns; Ratings what is rated and on what scale.
Printing
This student prints the report on screen. Print class prints every report, one student to a sheet, in roll-number order. The studio lays each report out on A4 itself, so the page you see is the page that prints. If a report runs to a second sheet, it says so; turning off a section usually brings it back to one.
Teachers
A school's teacher with the Teacher role (their own classes) uses the studio for their own classes only:
- They see the reports for the batches they teach and the reports they made themselves, never another class's.
- They can bring the class in only from their own batches, and cannot point a report at another batch.
- They print with the school's letterhead, logo and signatures, but only the office changes those.
- They can delete reports they made. A report the office made for their class is theirs to fill in, not to remove.
The owner and anyone with school-wide Exams and results access, such as a principal or exam coordinator, see every report.
