SSB: the personal interview, from your PIQ form to the report
What a mock looks like in the room, step by step. The panel, its order, the form and the qualities are the real round's; the words and numbers are illustrative.
1
You fill in your PIQ form once
The Interviewing Officer has your Personal Information Questionnaire open throughout. Every line — school, marks, family, friends, games, NCC, previous SSBs — is a question, usually asked in a rapid-fire set.

The report says what to fix

One Interviewing Officer — usually the President or Deputy President of the board.
The interview is a conversation built on the PIQ form, meant to see the Officer-Like Qualities in how a candidate has lived so far: how they organise an answer, how they get on with people, what they did when things got hard.

Group testing: group discussion
Group discussion 15–20 minutes
In the real discussion your whole group of eight to ten sits in a circle. Here you sit it with five others.
The GTO gives the topic and takes no part. There is no chairperson and no conclusion required; the officer watches how each candidate reasons, listens and carries the group.

No marks: the group testing officer reads it for officer-like qualities, with the other group tasks. It is the first GTO task, and there are usually two discussions on different topics.
Assessed on: Reasoning ability · Power of expression · Cooperation · Ability to influence the group · Initiative · Liveliness

Can I practise the SSB interview online?

Can I practise it in Hindi?
Yes. The AI board can conduct the whole interview in हिन्दी (Hindi), as a Hindi-medium board does, and you can answer in Hindi or English.
