SBI PO: the interview, from your Application form to the report

What a mock looks like in the room, step by step. The panel, its order, the form and the qualities are the real round's; the words and numbers are illustrative.

1
You fill in your Application form once

The panel has your application and your score sheet. The first questions almost always come from your graduation, your job and your hobbies.

In the order the real one moves: opening, then background, then awareness, then situations, then you, then close. Follow-ups come from what you just said.

3
You answer out loud

Speak as you would in the room, or type. Your pace, long pauses and filler words are measured as you go — and, if your camera is on, how often you look toward it.

The report says what to fix

1
Interview
Conversation 15–25 minutes 30 marks

A panel of senior officials from State Bank of India, with an HR specialist.

State Bank of India does not publish an interview rubric. Panels consistently test four things: why this career, banking awareness applied to real situations, judgement in a customer or compliance scenario, and how the candidate communicates.
  1. 1 Opening
  2. 2 Background
  3. 3 Awareness
  4. 4 Situations
  5. 5 You
  6. 6 Close

Phase III is a Group Exercise (20) and this Interview (30), scaled together to 25 of the final 100. The Group Exercise is the next round here.

Assessed on: Motivation and fit · Banking and financial awareness · Situational judgement · Communication · Background depth · Composure

2
Group Exercise
Group discussion 15–20 minutes 20 marks

In the real exercise a group of candidates is given a topic to discuss or a problem to solve. Here you sit it with five other candidates.

SBI assesses the group exercise on communication, leadership, problem-solving and teamwork. It publishes no rubric beyond that.
  1. 1 The topic
  2. 2 Discussion
  3. 3 Close

Phase III's other part: 20 marks, with the Interview's 30. General candidates need 20 of the 50 together (17.5 for reserved categories). A psychometric test comes first and carries no marks.

Assessed on: Initiation · Content · Listening · Leadership · Communication · Summarising
