How toppers play this section

Advanced Mathematics is constructed so that the correct first step is not obvious, which is precisely what separates it from JEE Main. Questions reward recognising structure — a symmetry, an invariant, a substitution that collapses the problem — over applying a remembered template, and a candidate whose preparation consists of solved-example recall will stall on the first unfamiliar phrasing. Calculus remains the largest block, with Limits, Continuity and Differentiability examined through genuinely pathological functions rather than routine ones, and Integrals often requiring a non-obvious substitution or a symmetry argument. Coordinate Geometry is split here into Straight Lines and Circles and a separate Conic Sections chapter, both of which reward parametric methods. Probability and Combinatorics are the areas where careful case definition matters most, and where most avoidable marks are lost.
