Reflection of Light at Curved Surfaces

The whole chapter turns on one idea — that the normal to a spherical mirror is just the line to its centre of curvature. Once you have that, every ray diagram, the mirror formula and magnification follow. Covers Activity 1 and 2, the lab activity table, ray diagrams for both mirrors, the full mirror-formula derivation, sign convention and the textbook's worked example. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 1.

Chemical Equations

How a sentence describing a reaction becomes a word equation, then a skeleton equation, then a balanced equation carrying physical states, heat changes and precipitates. Covers the three opening activities, the four-step balancing method worked on three reactions, the six things a balanced equation tells you, and the textbook's three stoichiometry examples including the limiting reagent. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 2.

Acids, Bases and Salts

Sixteen activities build the chapter from indicators up to Plaster of Paris. Covers natural and olfactory indicators, reactions with metals, carbonates and oxides, neutralisation, why a dry HCl gas is not an acid, the hydronium ion, the pH scale and its role in tooth decay and soil, the chloro-alkali process and the four chemicals from common salt, and water of crystallisation. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 3.

Refraction of Light at Curved Surfaces

The heaviest derivation chapter in the volume. Builds the curved-surface formula from Snell's law under the paraxial approximation, then uses it twice over to reach the lens maker's formula. Covers the four incidence cases, lens types and terminology, the four ray behaviours and six image positions, the lens formula, magnification, and all seven of the textbook's worked examples. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 4.

Human Eye and Colourful World

Applies the lens formula to the eye itself, calculating that the eye lens works between 2.5 cm and 2.27 cm — and that every defect of vision is a failure to stay in that range. Then covers the prism, the derivation of its refractive index at minimum deviation, dispersion explained by wave theory, why a rainbow is a cone rather than an arc, and scattering from blue sky to red sunset. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 5.

Structure of Atom

Builds the modern picture of the atom from evidence rather than assertion — flame colours and line spectra force Planck's quantised energy, line splitting forces Sommerfeld's ellipses, and the impossibility of measuring an electron's position and velocity together forces the quantum mechanical model. Then the four quantum numbers and the three rules of electronic configuration. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 6.

Classification of Elements - The Periodic Table

Traces the periodic table from Dobereiner's triads and Newlands' octaves through Mendeleeff's predictions and their limitations to Moseley's atomic number and the modern long form, then works through the periodic properties — valency, atomic radius, ionization energy, electron affinity and electronegativity — and the reason each one trends the way it does. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 7.

Chemical Bonding

Builds the chemical bond from the stability of the noble gases — Lewis symbols and the octet rule, then the ionic bond by transfer and the covalent bond by sharing, then the three theories that were needed when sharing alone could not explain bond lengths, bond energies or molecular shapes: VSEPR, valence bond theory and hybridisation. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 8.

Electric Current

Builds current from the ordered motion of free electrons, derives the drift speed and shows it is only 0.07 mm per second, then establishes potential difference, emf, Ohm's law and resistivity by experiment. Ends with series and parallel combinations, Kirchhoff's two laws, electric power and the kilowatt hour, overloading and fuses, and an annexure deriving Ohm's law from Newton's second law. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 9.

Electromagnetism

Runs from Oersted's 1820 compass deflection to the working generator — magnetic field, field lines, flux and flux density, the fields of a straight wire, a coil and a solenoid, the force on a moving charge and on a current-carrying wire, the electric motor and why it needs a commutator, then Faraday's law, Lenz's law derived from energy conservation, motional emf and the AC and DC generators. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 10.

Principles of Metallurgy

Extraction of metals from their ores, organised by the one thing that decides the method — the metal's place in the activity series. Covers minerals and ores, the four dressing methods, electrolytic reduction for reactive metals, roasting and carbon reduction for the middle, heat alone for the least reactive, then refining, corrosion and its prevention, and the furnaces that make it all possible. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 11.

Carbon and its Compounds

Why carbon shares rather than gains or loses electrons, and what follows from it — sp3, sp2 and sp hybridisation, the allotropes from diamond to nanotubes, catenation and the versatile nature of carbon, hydrocarbons and functional groups, isomerism and homologous series, the full IUPAC naming scheme, the four reaction types, and ethanol, ethanoic acid, esterification and soap. Telangana SCERT Class 10 Physical Science Chapter 12.
