Overview
The Holistic Progress Card (HPC), from PARAKH and NCERT under the National Education Policy, describes how a child is doing rather than only scoring them. At the middle stage each subject is described by three abilities, each at one of three levels:
- Awareness, Sensitivity and Creativity in the subject.
- B Beginner: finds this a challenge and needs support. P Proficient: shows it, with some support from the teacher and peers. A Advanced: does it well and independently.
On tuition.in the HPC sits alongside the report card for the same classes, using the same terms and subjects.
Switching it on
Open the class's exam plan on the Exam plans tab and tick Also keep the Holistic Progress Card. The CBSE and state presets for Classes 1 to 8 have it on already. Only classes whose plan has it on appear on the Progress card tab.
What teachers fill in
- On the Progress card (HPC) tab pick the section, the term and the subject.
- For each student, tap B, P or A for awareness, sensitivity and creativity, and write a line of feedback.
- Press Save.
The row also shows the student's own view of themselves in the subject once they have given it. Card on a row opens that student's whole card: what they wrote about themselves, their ambition card, and the partnership card for each term.
What students fill in
A student with an account fills in their parts from their Campus page:
- All about me: things I like doing, I am good at, I want to get better at, and something I'd like my teachers to know.
- Ambition card: my ambition and my plan B, study habits that will help, subjects to focus on, skills to build, and someone in my community who inspires me.
- How I see myself in each subject each term: the same three abilities and levels the teacher uses, with a reflection in their own words.
They also see what the teachers have written about them.
The partnership card
Each term the parents and the class teacher meet and fill in the partnership card.
- Parents, from the Parent Dashboard: strengths and concerns they see at home, their suggestions, what they will do at home, and how the meeting went (very satisfied to very dissatisfied). Parents without the app can say it at the meeting and the teacher writes it down.
- The class teacher, from the student's card: the date they met, strengths and areas of concern, suggestions, what the student will work on, and what the school will do. Then Save the school's side.
Printing the card
Print cards prints the whole section's HPCs: the school and the student's details, attendance, All about me, the ambition card, the partnership card for each term, each subject's levels and feedback term by term, and a summary of the year that takes each subject's latest level from the teacher alongside how the student saw themselves.
Questions
Does the HPC replace marks? No. Marks and grades stay on the report card; the HPC adds the description. A school can keep both for the same classes.
A student has no account. The teacher's side and the partnership card still work; the student's own parts stay empty on the printed card.
Who can fill in the teacher's side? Team members with the Exams and results part set to Change, usually the subject and class teachers.
