Physics is the section most NEET aspirants fear — yet it is the most mechanical to score. Every one of the 45 questions is a short problem where you spot the quantity asked, pick the formula, and compute. There is almost no essay-style theory. Master a compact set of formulas, keep your units clean, and Physics becomes 180 reliable marks. This chapter sets the method the rest of the section is built on.

Convert everything to SI first — metres, kilograms, seconds — before putting numbers into a formula. A length left in cm or a mass in grams silently scales the answer by 100 or 1000.

Not because the concepts are deep, but because it is the only section that demands calculation under time pressure. Biology and much of Chemistry reward recall; Physics asks you to select a formula and compute correctly in under a minute. The fear fades once you treat each question as a mechanical four-step drill — read the quantity asked, list the given data in SI, pick one formula, and compute.

The syllabus is entirely the NCERT Class 11 and 12 Physics course as rationalised by the NMC, so no topic outside NCERT appears. However, unlike Biology, NCERT Physics alone is not enough — the concepts are there, but you must add problem practice, because NEET tests application, not the text. Use NCERT for concepts and formulas, then drill previous-year problems.

Mechanics and Electrodynamics together make up around 60% of the section, so they come first. Within them, kinematics, laws of motion, rotational motion, electrostatics, current electricity and electromagnetic induction recur every year. Modern physics and optics are compact, high-return closers — small to learn, steady to score.

Guess only when you have narrowed the options. With −1 for a wrong answer and +4 for a right one, an informed attempt after eliminating two of four options is favourable on average. A blind guess among four is not worth the risk — skip a genuine unknown and spend the time securing questions you can actually solve.

There are no sectional time limits, so plan your own split. A common, effective allocation is roughly 50–60 minutes for Biology (90 questions), 40–50 for Chemistry, and 35–40 for Physics, leaving a buffer to revisit marked questions. Physics is where students over-spend, so cap it deliberately.
