- Crops: Rice (dominant), wheat, pulses, oilseeds.
- OUTPUT: High yield per land (due to labour + fertiliser) but LOW per worker.
- Difference from Primitive: INTENSIVE = same land every year with INPUTS (fertiliser, irrigation). Primitive = SLASH-AND-BURN, shifting.
1.3 Commercial Agriculture
- What: HIGH capital input, LARGE farms, MACHINES (tractors, harvesters). For MARKET sale, NOT family consumption.
- Crops: Cash crops — cotton, sugarcane, tea, coffee, rubber, oil palm.
- OUTPUT: Very high — but requires INVESTMENT (seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, machinery).
