Overview
Students pay Tuition.in when they book a paid interview with you. The platform keeps its fee, holds the rest for a week after the interview in case the student raises a problem, and then it is yours to request. Payouts are sent by bank transfer to the account on your Earnings page, and you are notified with the transfer's reference when the money is sent.
What an interview earns
An interview earns its price, less the platform's fee. The fee is a percentage of the price, shown at the top of your Earnings page, and each interview's price, fee and earning are listed on its own row, so nothing has to be worked out.
| The booking | What you earn |
|---|---|
| A full interview, held and scored | Its price less the fee |
| A demo with a price | Its price less the fee |
| A free session, or a free demo | Nothing; free sessions build your reviews |
| Cancelled by the student 24 hours or more ahead | Nothing; the student is refunded in full |
| Cancelled by the student less than 24 hours ahead | Its price less the fee; the student is not refunded, because you kept the time |
| Cancelled by you (a booked slot removed) | Nothing; the student is always refunded in full |
| The student didn't join (you waited and reported it 15 minutes in) | Its price less the fee, as if held |
| You didn't join (the student reported it) | Nothing; the student is refunded in full |
| An interview booked with a package credit | Its share of the package price, less the fee; a form-review session earns the same once you write the review |
| A problem the team resolved with a part refund | The rest of the price, less a fee cut in proportion |
When it can be paid
- The interview happens. Until you submit the scorecard it shows as Scorecard due. The scorecard is what the student paid for, so the earning counts only once it is in.
- You submit the scorecard. The earning moves to On hold, with the date it becomes ready.
- Seven days after the interview, it is Ready. The week is the window in which a student can raise a problem with the interview.
- You request a payout, which takes everything that is ready.
For example: an interview on 2 March, scored the same evening, is on hold until 9 March and can be requested from then. A scorecard submitted a few days late does not push the date back, because the week counts from the interview, not from the scorecard.
The Earnings page
- Four totals at the top: Ready to request, On hold (including interviews whose scorecard is still due), In a payout and Paid to you.
- Payout: the fee, the hold and the smallest payout, the Request button, and the bank account the money goes to.
- Interviews: every paid booking, newest first, with its price, the fee, what you earn and where it stands.
- Payouts: every payout you have requested, with its amount, the account it went to and its bank reference once sent.
What each status means
| Status | Means |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | Booked and paid for; the interview has not happened yet. |
| Scorecard due | The interview has happened; submit the scorecard for it to count. |
| On hold | Scored; ready from the date shown beside it. |
| Ready | Can be requested now. |
| Requested | In a payout that has not been paid yet. |
| Paid | Paid to your bank. |
| Refunded | The student was refunded; it earns nothing. |
While a problem the student reported is being looked into, the interview shows Held: problem reported and can't be paid out; it moves on once the team decides. An interview the student cancelled too late to be refunded says Cancelled late by the candidate, not refunded on its row, and moves from On hold to Ready like any other.
Your bank account
Add the account under Paid to: the account holder's name, the bank, the account number and the IFSC. It is the same account used for any course earnings on Tuition.in, so if you have already added one as a tutor, it is there.
- The name must match the name on the account, or the transfer can be refused.
- Once saved, only the last four digits of the account number are shown back.
- Change replaces it. A payout already requested still goes to the account it was requested to; the next one goes to the new account.
Requesting a payout
Request sends everything that is ready in one payout. It works once you have a bank account on the page and at least ₹100 ready; until then the button stays disabled. There is no need to request after every interview: earnings stay ready until you do.
Automatic payouts
Switch on Pay me automatically on the Earnings page and a payout is requested for you whenever at least ₹100 is ready, so you never have to remember. It still goes to the account on the page, and you are told when it is paid.
Tax, statements
- Your PAN can be added on the Earnings page. Where tax is deducted at source on payouts, it is deducted at the lower rate with a PAN and a higher one without. Only its first and last two characters are shown back.
- Your GSTIN, if you have one, is printed on your statements.
- Every payout has a numbered statement: each interview in it, the price, the fee, what you earned, any tax deducted, and the net amount sent. Open it from the payout and print it or save it as a PDF.
After you request
| Payout status | Means |
|---|---|
| Requested | The team has your request. |
| Being sent | The transfer is being made — by bank transfer through RazorpayX where it is set up, which confirms it by itself. |
| Paid | Sent. The bank reference (UTR) is shown, and you are notified. |
| Not sent | The transfer could not be made — for example, the account name did not match. The reason is shown and you are notified; the earnings go back to Ready, to request again once the account is fixed. |
Common questions
Why is an interview still “Scorecard due”?
You have not submitted its scorecard. Open it from Sessions or the dashboard's “scorecards due” list.
Why is a refunded interview listed at all?
So the ledger accounts for every paid booking. It shows the price and earns nothing.
Do free sessions ever pay?
No. They are how new interviewers collect their first reviews, and a student can take only one free interview per board every 30 days, across all interviewers.
I am a tutor. Are my course earnings on this page?
No. Course and class earnings are on your tutor Earnings & revenue page. The two share a bank account and nothing else.
