RRB NTPC 2026 — Complete CBT 1 Preparation Course

The Railway Recruitment Boards fill Non-Technical Popular Categories posts — Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Commercial Apprentice and others — through one of the largest recruitment exercises anywhere in the world, routinely drawing over a crore of applications. This course covers CBT 1, the common first stage that every NTPC applicant sits regardless of the post applied for and regardless of whether they are in the Graduate or Undergraduate level stream. It is 100 questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes across three sections: Mathematics (30 questions), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30) and General Awareness (40). Marking is +1 for a correct answer and −1/3 for a wrong one, with no penalty for questions left blank. Two structural facts shape the strategy. First, there are no sectional time locks — you have a single 90-minute window and can move freely between all three sections, which makes personal pacing a real decision rather than something the software enforces. Second, CBT 1 scores do not count towards final merit at all. It is purely a screening stage that shortlists candidates at roughly twenty times the vacancies per community and post, to sit the tougher CBT 2 that actually decides selection. Clearing comfortably matters; topping it does not. Eligibility & who can join: • Educational qualification depends on the post: Undergraduate-level NTPC posts require a Class 12 (10+2) pass, while Graduate-level posts require a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. • Age limits vary by level and post as notified, with relaxations for OBC, SC/ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other reserved categories as per the official notification. • Qualifying cutoffs for CBT 1 are 40% for UR and EWS candidates, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 25% for ST, and these are relaxable at the Board's discretion. • Always confirm eligibility, post-wise requirements and dates against the official notification on the RRB regional websites. How the course is structured: The syllabus is taught section by section, with topics ordered by their real previous-year question share. General Awareness gets the largest share of teaching time because it is the largest section at 40 of 100 questions, and General Science alone is about a quarter of it. Because there are no sectional locks, pacing strategy is taught explicitly — most candidates do best by clearing General Awareness quickly to bank time for Mathematics, and this course drills that sequencing in every full-length mock. Each topic combines concept teaching, shortcut technique and timed practice.
