How toppers play this section
Advanced Chemistry differs from Main in kind, not just difficulty. Organic Chemistry moves decisively from product prediction to mechanism: stereochemistry, reaction intermediates and multi-step synthesis dominate, and a candidate who memorised named reactions without understanding GOC will find almost nothing transfers. Physical Chemistry becomes genuinely calculation-heavy, with Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry and Kinetics all capable of multi-step numerical problems. Inorganic Chemistry rewards structural reasoning over recall — Coordination Compounds in particular is examined through geometry, isomerism and crystal field arguments rather than through remembered facts. Qualitative analysis and the chemistry of specific p-block and d-block compounds appear more often than candidates expect.
