How toppers play this section
Integrated Business Solutions carries no syllabus of its own — ICAI states directly that it assesses integrated knowledge of Financial Reporting, Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Auditing, both tax papers, Corporate and Economic Laws, and Strategic Cost and Performance Management, the last two examined nowhere else at Final level since they moved to the compulsory Self-Paced Modules. Five case studies of 25 marks each are set, you attempt four, and the paper is open-book, which sounds like relief but functions as the opposite: with reference material permitted, ICAI expects speed of application and correct issue-spotting across disciplines, not lookup of a formula or section number you would otherwise have memorised. The skill this paper actually tests is recognising, within one messy business scenario, which of the five or six disciplines each sub-question belongs to, and then applying that discipline's own logic and vocabulary correctly — a taxation issue answered in accounting language, or vice versa, scores poorly regardless of whether the underlying reasoning was sound.
