Overview

This unit introduces students to the diversity of living things and their relationships with their habitats. Students will explore different habitats, investigate life cycles, understand food chains, and discover how organisms are adapted to their environments. Through observation, research, and hands-on activities, students will develop a scientific understanding of the interdependence of living things.

Summative Assessment

Habitat Research Project: Students will research a specific habitat and create a comprehensive presentation (diorama, poster, or digital presentation) that includes the location and climate, at least five organisms living there with their adaptations, a food chain or web, and an explanation of threats and conservation efforts.

Organism Adaptation Report: Students will select one organism and write a report explaining how its structural and behavioural adaptations help it survive in its habitat, including diagrams and labelled illustrations.
