Urine Formation — Three Steps in the Nephron

- TUBULAR REABSORPTION: Useful substances (water, glucose, amino acids, salts) are REABSORBED back into the blood. 'The body RECOVERS what it needs.'
- TUBULAR SECRETION: Additional waste products (drugs, excess ions, H⁺, K⁺) are ACTIVELY SECRETED from the blood into the filtrate for elimination. Urine = water + urea + salts + other waste.
Excretion in Plants
- CO₂ and O₂ through stomata. Excess water through transpiration. Waste stored in: old leaves (which FALL), bark, vacuoles (crystals), resins, gums.
