About NEET PG
NEET PG is the single entrance for admission to MD, MS, DNB and PG Diploma programmes across India. It is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and is open only to candidates holding an MBBS degree with a completed or imminently completing internship.
The paper is 180 multiple-choice questions for 720 marks in 210 minutes, drawn from the entire MBBS curriculum across nineteen subjects. Marking is +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one.
Unlike NEET UG, the syllabus is not a fixed body of textbook chapters so much as the whole of undergraduate medicine, with a pronounced emphasis on clinical subjects — Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics together carry the largest share.
What a good score unlocks
- A NEET PG rank governs admission to MD, MS and PG Diploma seats in government and private medical colleges, and to DNB seats, through All-India and state counselling.
- The rank required varies enormously by specialty; the gap between a clinical branch at a government college and a non-clinical seat is one of the widest in Indian competitive admissions.
