About SBI Clerk
SBI Clerk recruits Junior Associates (customer support and sales) for State Bank of India — the front-line clerical staff who run day-to-day branch service across the country's largest bank. Conducted by SBI itself, it is a two-stage written selection with no interview, so your objective performance in the Main examination alone decides the outcome.
The process is a qualifying Preliminary examination followed by a Main examination that determines the final merit, and a test of proficiency in the specified local language for the state you apply to. The Prelims is a tightly timed screen of English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning; the Mains broadens into General/Financial Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and a combined Reasoning & Computer Aptitude paper.
With sectional timing and no interview, SBI Clerk rewards clean, consistent accuracy across every subject. Because vacancies are state-wise and local-language proficiency is verified, choosing the right state and preparing its language requirement is as much a part of the strategy as the aptitude itself.
What a good score unlocks
- A selected Junior Associate handles branch operations — customer service, cash, account maintenance and sales support — with a stable pay-scale set under the bipartite settlement and the backing of SBI's national network.
- The clerical cadre offers internal promotion routes toward the officer cadre over time, and SBI's scale means broad exposure and postings within the state you are recruited for.
