About GATE

GATE tests comprehensive understanding of undergraduate engineering, science and humanities subjects. It is conducted jointly by IISc Bengaluru and the seven older IITs on a rotating basis, normally across weekends in February.

The paper is 65 questions for 100 marks in 180 minutes. Every paper includes a 15-mark General Aptitude section common to all disciplines, with the remaining 85 marks drawn from the candidate's chosen subject paper — around thirty are offered, and candidates may sit up to two.

Question types are mixed: multiple-choice questions with negative marking, multiple-select questions with no negative marking, and numerical-answer questions typed in directly, also without negative marking. Knowing which is which as you answer is part of the exam.

What a good score unlocks

  • A GATE score governs admission to M.Tech, M.E. and direct PhD programmes at the IITs, IISc, NITs and other institutions, generally with a monthly stipend for qualified candidates.
  • Many public sector undertakings recruit through GATE scores, and the score is also used for certain research and faculty-track opportunities. A GATE score is valid for three years.

Why the tuition.in test series is different

What makes the tuition.in GATE test series different from a static question bank.

Agentic & always-current
Every paper is researched from the live GATE pattern and previous-year papers, then written fresh for you — never a stale, recycled question bank.
Independently solver-verified
An automated solver panel works every question before it ships; anything it can't verify never reaches you — so you never lose marks to a wrong answer key.
The deepest report in test-prep
Not just a score — a projected All-India rank, percentile, behaviour analysis and a topic-level breakdown of exactly where each mark went.
Adaptive — built from your mistakes
The engine mines your Error Book and Learning Genome to assemble a paper from the exact topics you keep getting wrong — the fastest route to a higher score.
AI Score Booster
Every report ends with a prioritised do-this-next plan and a one-tap retest on your weak areas, so analysis turns into actual marks.
Free, with no paywall
Full mocks, sectionals, chapter tests, PYQs, All-India rank and the entire analytics suite — completely free, with nothing locked behind a payment.
