Design a comic strip from real-life examples that differentiates between elements, compounds and mixtures, with diagrams, and illustrates their properties and uses.

✦ Two rules that will keep the science right. Draw atoms of different elements as different shapes or sizes, since these particles are different from the particles of any other element — using identical circles for hydrogen and oxygen would undo panel 3. And keep the ratio right: two hydrogens to one oxygen in every water molecule you draw.
Include one honest limitation in a caption: real particles are far too small to see and are not coloured. A diagram is a way of thinking, not a photograph — Chapter 7 makes exactly that point in its warning about the word 'particle'.
