The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UASB), established in 1964, represents India's pioneering effort in agricultural education and research, standing as one of the first three agricultural universities in the country. Headquartered in the historic GKVK (Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra) campus spanning 1,400 acres in North Bangalore, this institution has been instrumental in Karnataka's agricultural transformation and India's Green Revolution.

The university operates under the jurisdiction of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and encompasses five constituent colleges: Agriculture (Bangalore, Shimoga, Raichur), Agricultural Engineering (Raichur), Horticulture (Bangalore, Sirsi), Sericulture (Chintamani), and Agricultural Business Management (Bangalore). UASB's research contributions have been groundbreaking, developing high-yielding varieties of crops, innovative farming techniques, and sustainable agricultural practices that have directly benefited millions of farmers across Karnataka and beyond.

The university maintains 22 research stations across diverse agro-climatic zones of Karnataka, conducting location-specific research in crop improvement, soil science, plant pathology, entomology, and agricultural economics. With an impressive track record of 350+ crop varieties released and countless farming technologies transferred to the field, UASB has been recognized with numerous national awards including the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award.

The university's extension services through Krishi Vigyan Kendras reach 1.5 lakh farmers annually, providing training, demonstrations, and advisory services.
