The American Dream comes with a $100,000 price tag. But did you know that in many European countries, education is considered a human right, not a business?
1. Germany: The Engineer's Paradise
Public universities in Germany charge zero tuition fees, even for international students. You only pay a semester contribution (€200-€300) which includes a bus pass.
- Catch: You need to block €11,208 (approx ₹10 Lakhs) in a German bank account for living expenses. This is your money to spend, not a fee.
2. Norway: High Quality, High Cost of Living
Like Germany, tuition is free. However, Norway is expensive. A burger might cost ₹1500. But if you can manage a part-time job, the education is world-class.
3. Italy: Scholarships for Everyone
Italy offers "Need-Based Scholarships" (DSU). If your family income is below a certain threshold (approx ₹20 Lakhs/year), you get full tuition waiver + free hostel + free meals + €5000 pocket money.
4. Taiwan: The Hidden Gem for Tech
Taiwan is the semiconductor capital of the world. Universities offer massive scholarships to attract talent. Living costs are comparable to Bangalore or Mumbai.
5. How to Manage Living Expenses?
In most countries, students are allowed to work 20 hours/week. A typical student job (library assistant, barista) pays enough to cover rent and food.
Verdict: If you have talent but no money, look East (Taiwan) or look at Continental Europe. The Anglosphere (US, UK, Australia) is not the only option.
